What We Do

Rachel & Alison are opening a fourth retail bakery in South Oceanside, CA!

Blackmarket Bakery is a women-owned and managed bakery with locations in Costa Mesa and San Diego, California. The bakery has a unique "Hub & Spoke" model, where its commissary kitchen in Irvine creates doughs, fillings, and retail pastries/confections, which get delivered to its 3 retail bakeries. At these locations, our bakers and pastry chefs create all breads, cakes, tarts, breakfast pastries, etc in house. This allows the bakery to have smaller kitchen footprints at its retail locations.

Blackmarket Bakery is committed to using real clean ingredients and classic techniques. We believe that baking should be fun, and it strives to create DELIGHT for our guests. You will find this focus in our welcoming and inviting atmosphere, friendly Blackmarketeers and our locally roasted coffees and lattes, and of course, our baked goods, including pastries, breads, eggwiches, cookies, cakes, and tarts. We also love to share our enthusiasm about baking during hands-on classes.

In addition to our own baked goods, Blackmarket Bakery also curates an array of retail products from local and small-scale craftspeople. Walking in, customers go on a journey through all of our baked goods and confections, in addition to bean-to-bar chocolate, letterpress cards, retro aprons, hand-turned rolling pins and lots of other fun selections. The bakery's spaces are all DIY, filled with handmade furniture and displays from our in-house fabricator. We strive to have every customer visit to Blackmarket be the best part of their day!
