the pitch

Advanced Bionic Technology Made Accessible to All

PSYONIC believes that every individual with a limb difference deserves access to the best available prosthetic devices. Setting out to develop a new kind of bionic hand, our team was founded by an engineer, and sought the expertise of doctors, designers, clinicians, public health experts, social workers, and people with limb differences, in order to create technology that would be as accessible as it is innovative.

The result of these efforts is the Ability Hand™ – an affordable, lightweight, multi-articulated bionic hand, with instant sensory feedback so users can truly feel what they touch.

THE problem & our solution

A Revolutionary Solution to a Long-Standing Need

Despite some advances in mobility technology over the past several decades, many of today’s options still fail to deliver in terms of comfort, agility, and controllability. Many people with a limb difference consider hooks inconvenient (source), while 3D-printed, myoelectric, or multi-articulated devices tend to be costly and lack functionality. These approaches don’t offer the kind of touch feedback that is so important to users.

So we built something better. PSYONIC designed the Ability Hand™ to be lightweight, lightning fast, intuitive, and strong, while also featuring what we believe is the first multi-touch sensing technology of its kind. Using dynamic fingertip sensors, the hand detects pressure and uses vibration to communicate sensation, so that users can actually feel what they are touching and work with even the most delicate objects.

THE Market & Our traction

From Mobility to The Metaverse

Since launching in September 2021, PSYONIC has made some incredible strides. We raised a $3.1 million round on StartEngine, received a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation for Small Business Innovation Research (source), and earned positive press from a number of major news organizations. We were even earned a $1 million offer from three sharks on Shark Tank and were deemed “The World’s Most Badass Prosthetic Arm” by Popular Mechanics in April 2022 (source).

Source | Source

The Ability Hand™ has users throughout the United States, and the number of orders we receive grows every year. Besides the prosthetics industry, we believe there is demand for our products in the robotics and tech market. Clients include Meta and Apptronik, as well as some of the world’s largest manufacturing, automotive, and brain-computer interface companies. Our goal is to scale to meet these opportunities, while also continuing to advance the field of bionics.

Two of the Top 5 teams in 2023’s ANA Avatar XPRIZE, a $10 million global competition to develop a physical robotic avatar system, used PSYONIC Ability Hands. And the market for such humanoid robots is expected to grow to at least $35 billion by 2035, according to Goldman Sachs. (Source)

why invest

Invest in Technology that Touches Lives

From its inception, PSYONIC was founded with a mission of redefining what it means to be human, and we believe that the Ability Hand™ is just the beginning. In the near future, by working closely with universities and military hospitals, our vision is to expand to include other prosthetic limbs and seamless integration with the human neuromuscular system.

The market for our technology is continuing to grow rapidly. We are looking for investors who, like us, believe that everyone should have access to the most advanced prosthetic technology at an affordable price. And for investors who want to get in on the humanoid robotics market. Join our bionic revolution by investing with PSYONIC.

Let's Make It to $1 Million

PSYONIC appeared on Fox 5 New York just a couple of hours ago. You can watch the story now!

We're less than $40,000 of hitting $1 million in our current StartEngine raise -- with five hours left on the clock before we close. Every dollar means more manufacturing capacity for the Ability Hand and big opportunities in the $3 billion bionic limb market and the $38 billion humanoid robotics industry.

We raised more than $150,000 in the last 24 hours and couldn't do any of this without your tremendous confidence in us. Thank you!

Check out this weekend's open house at PSYONIC HQ in the video below!

04.29.24

12 Hours Left

The clock is ticking. Loudly! You only have 12 hours left to join our bionic revolution.

Ready to invest in a bionic hand that is changing the lives of people with limb differences across the United States? Ready to invest in a company that's at the forefront of humanoid robotics and brain-machine interface research? Ready to invest in a team that grew sales revenue by 2.5x year over year in Q1 of 2024?

That's PSYONIC. This is your chance.

Behind the Scenes

Earlier in the month, we shared a video of Anni showcasing the most amazing things an Ability Hand user can do -- with some practice and patience. She flipped a pancake, hit the gym, and made dinner with friends. Now it's time for the commentary. What was hard? What was surprising? What was she doing for the very first time? Find out below!

Less than three days to invest! Join our bionic revolution today.

04.27.24

Highest Quarterly Sales Ever!

Exciting news in the 48 hours of our raise! Q1 of 2024 was our biggest quarter ever. Sales revenue topped $611,000. That's a more than 15 percent increase over the last quarter of 2023. And 2.5x increase year over year.

We're honored that you've joined our bionic revolution. And we are EXCITED about the future. Here's why:

  • Some of the biggest manufacturing, robotics, and logistics companies in the world bought Ability Hands in 2023, moving us firmly into the $38 billion humanoid robotics industry. We can’t name them all because we’re under NDA with some of them, but they include Apptronik, Figure AI, and Hexagon.
  • A giant brain-machine interface company is working with the Ability Hand. So are brain-machine interface researchers at universities throughout the United States.
  • We are hard at work on what would be the largest federal grant we’ve ever received, which would drive bionic technology for years to come.

And, never forget, our users are why we do what we do. They're excited too. Here are a few reasons:

  • With sensors in the fingertips, users can feel what they're doing with the Ability Hand and use it with even the most delicate objects.
  • The Ability Hand is tough, water-resistant, and each finger can handle blunt force impact without breaking.
  • The Ability Hand charges using USB-C in about an hour. A charge lasts all day.
  • Users can connect their hand to our iOS and Android mobile apps, so their prosthetist can fine-tune their Ability Hand and make constant improvements to its grips and functionality.
  • We’re the first company building bionic hands in the United States, which means we offer quick service when users need a hand with their hand.

Great User Experiences

Less than two weeks left to invest. Join our bionic revolution today!

We've shown you lots of videos of Anni -- a PSYONIC team member and an Ability Hand user -- doing all kinds of fun stuff. She's been paragliding, hit the driving range, and gone to the beach in recent clips. But, really, Anni's job is all about helping other Ability Hand users as they learn to use their Ability Hand. So we want to take you behind the scenes for a minute and show you some of the other projects she works on -- like the videos below.

They show users and prospective users the grips and techniques they might need to do things like push a grocery cart, chop vegetables, or do laundry. These everyday tasks we tackle, known as activities of daily living in occupational therapy circles, are crucial for ensuring that Ability Hand users develop confidence and independence in managing their day-to-day routines and get what they need out of their bionic hand.

Hi LD, thanks for your question! We found that the most important issues that concerned people with limb differences were the robustness, responsiveness, weight, and affordability of their prosthetic device. On top of that, with commercially available control systems (as well as the current state of future control systems), controlling all 23 joints you would find in a natural hand is not currently feasible. For that reason, we focused our design on making the Ability Hand the fastest on the market, the first on the market with touch feedback from multiple fingers/sites, lighter than a natural human hand, and super robust to impacts--all at a price point that Medicare can cover. The Ability Hand is already FDA-registered and covered by insurance, and we have patients all over the US using it now. The best part is that we built the Ability Hand to work with systems that are currently clinically available, as well as control systems that will be potentially available in the future. For example, the University of Chicago, Nerves, Inc., and other brain-machine interface companies have each purchased Ability Hands to connect it to brain implants or peripheral nerve implants. Because the Ability Hand is the fastest hand on the market and the gives users touch feedback, with these nerve interfaces, users will have the potential for natural individual finger control as well as touch feedback that feels like it is coming from their hand that is no longer there. We envision a future where bionic limbs are directly connected to your bones, muscles, and nerves, and PSYONIC is at the forefront of this technology. Also, robotics researchers globally have been purchasing the Ability Hand, including NASA, Meta, Apptronik, Figure, and the world's largest automakers and manufacturers. They are developing robots to do human tasks, and we have optimized our bionic hand for humans to do human tasks, so robots are a natural extension. This is at a fraction of the price of other robotic hands on the market. We believe that accessibility of these devices to both patients and robots is of utmost importance right now, and to not start considering this issue years from now.

Hello! Can you please speak to the need to raise cash? Is this for continued production development of the Psyonic Hand, new Psyonic products, hiring of new sales staff, or other? Can you provide more detailed information on Psyonic unit sales in 2023 and expectations for 2024? Are there expectations for Psyonic to be cash flow positive any time soon (next two or three years) or is this a longer journey regarding ramping up sales and/or further product development? I regret not participating in the last SE round and would like to participate in this one. Congratulations on successes so far.

Hi Adam, the funds will be used primarily for scaling our production and R&D on the next generation of the Ability Hand and other limbs. Our biggest issue is that we have more demand than we can produce (a good problem to have) and want to increase the production. We were profitable in 2022. Last year, we did $1.5m in revenue (up from $1m the previous year). Based on Q1 results this year, we're on track to double or triple revenue this year (note, this is a projection extrapolating from Q1 results and there is always a risk with projections not being accurate). The increase has been from large manufacturers in the robotics and automaker spaces purchasing our hands. Would love to have you on board! 🦾

FAQS

With Regulation A+, a non-accredited investor can only invest a maximum of 10% of their annual income or 10% of their net worth per year, whichever is greater. There are no restrictions for accredited investors.

With Regulation Crowdfunding, non-accredited investors with an annual income or net worth less than $124,000 are limited to invest a maximum of 5% of the greater of those two amounts. For those with an annual income and net worth greater than $124,000, they are limited to investing 10% of the greater of the two amounts.

At the close of an offering, all investors whose funds have “cleared” by this time will be included in the disbursement. At this time, each investor will receive an email from StartEngine with their Countersigned Subscription Agreement, which will serve as their proof of purchase moving forward.

Please keep in mind that a company can conduct a series of “closes” or withdrawals of funds throughout the duration of the campaign. If you are included in that withdrawal period, you will be emailed your countersigned subscription agreement and proof of purchase immediately following that withdrawal.

StartEngine assists companies in raising capital, and once the offering is closed, we are no longer involved with whether the company chooses to list shares on a secondary market or what occurs thereafter. Therefore, StartEngine has no control or insight into your investment after the close of the live offering. In addition, we are not permitted to provide financial advice. You may want to contact a financial professional to discuss possible investment outcomes.

For Regulation Crowdfunding, investors are able to cancel their investment at any point throughout the campaign up until 48 hours before the closing of the offering. Note: If the company does a rolling close, they will post an update to their current investors, giving them the opportunity to cancel during this timeframe. If you do not cancel within this 5-day timeframe, your funds will be invested in the company, and you will no longer be able to cancel the investment. If your funds show as ‘Invested’ on your account dashboard, your investment can no longer be canceled.

For Regulation A+, StartEngine allows for a four-hour cancellation period. Once the four-hour window has passed, it is up to each company to set their own cancellation policy. You may find the company’s cancellation policy in the company’s offering circular.

Once your investment is canceled, there is a 10-day clearing period (from the date your investment was submitted). After your funds have cleared the bank, you will receive your refund within 10 business days.

Refunds that are made through ACH payments can take up to 10 business days to clear. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the bank, but we will do everything we can to get you your refund as soon as possible. However, every investment needs to go through the clearing process in order to be sent back to the account associated with the investment.

Both Title III (Regulation Crowdfunding) and Title IV (Reg A+) help entrepreneurs crowdfund capital investments from unaccredited and accredited investors. The differences between these regulations are related to the investor limitations, the differing amounts of money companies are permitted to raise, and differing disclosure and filing requirements. StartEngine Marketplace (“SE Marketplace”) is a website operated by StartEngine Primary, LLC (“SE Primary”), a broker-dealer that is registered with the SEC and a member of FINRA and the SIPC.

StartEngine Secondary (“SE Secondary”) is our investor trading platform. SE Secondary is an SEC-registered Alternative Trading System (“ATS”) operated by SE Primary that matches orders for buyers and sellers of securities. It allows investors to trade shares purchased through Regulation A+, Regulation Crowdfunding, or Regulation D for companies who have engaged StartEngine Secure LLC as their transfer agent. The term “Rapid,” when used in relation to transactions on SE Marketplace, specifically refers to transactions that are facilitated on SE Secondary, This is because, unlike with trades on the StartEngine Bulletin Board (“SE BB”), trades on SE Secondary are executed the moment that they are matched.

StartEngine Bulletin Board (“SE BB”) is a bulletin board platform on which users can indicate to each other their interest to buy or sell shares of private companies that previously executed Reg CF or Reg A offerings not necessarily through SE Primary. As a bulletin board platform, SE BB provides a venue for investors to access information about such private company offerings and connect with potential sellers. All investment opportunities on SE BB are based on indicated interest from sellers and will need to be confirmed. Even if parties express mutual interest to enter into a trade on SE BB, a trade will not immediately result because execution is subject to additional contingencies, including among others, effecting of the transfer of the shares from the potential seller to the potential buyer by the issuer and/or transfer agent. SE BB is distinct and separate from SE Secondary. SE Secondary facilitates the trading of securities by matching orders between buyers and sellers and facilitating executions of trades on the platform. By contrast, under SE BB, SE Primary assists with the facilitation of a potential resulting trade off platform including, by among other things, approaching the issuer and other necessary parties in relation to the potential transaction. The term “Extended”, when used in relation to transactions on SE Marketplace denotes that these transactions are conducted via SE BB, and that these transactions may involve longer processing times compared to SE Secondary for the above-stated reasons.

Even if a security is qualified to be displayed on SE Marketplace, there is no guarantee an active trading market for the securities will ever develop, or if developed, be maintained. You should assume that you may not be able to liquidate your investment for some time or be able to pledge these shares as collateral.
