Learn the rules that govern and allow for real estate crowdfunding and how real estate crowdfunding can be deployed in your community for possible development.
In this course we will look into the new world of real estate equity crowdfunding and how it can be used for urban development. Real estate equity crowdfunding is a result of the 2012 Jumpstart Our Business Startup (JOBS) Act, which focused on reforming securities laws to allow people to invest direct in small business and, in the case of real estate, buildings as well. The industry has grown from $0 in 2012 to an estimated $3.5 billion at the end of 2016. This course will focus on the basics of the law that allows for equity crowdfunding, give an overview of the different types of crowdfunding that are allowed, and look at how certain platforms are using crowdfunding to deliver urban product while allowing everyday people to invest.
At the end of this course, you will feel conversant in the rules that govern and allow for real estate crowdfunding and be aware of how real estate crowdfunding can be deployed in your community for possible development.
