The OurCrowd FoodTech Fund (OC FoodTech) is targeting a $30M raise, providing OurCrowd investors with an allocation into the next 15-20 food technology opportunities offered on the OurCrowd platform, subject to OurCrowd’s overall allocation in each opportunity.
OurCrowd made its first investment in the sector in 2018 in the pre-IPO financing of Beyond Meat. The company went public in May 2019, resulting in a successful exit that generated a 3.5X multiple for OurCrowd investors. Since that first investment, OurCrowd has ramped up its FoodTech portfolio and has become one of the most active VCs in the category with over $95M invested into 17 companies across subsectors including alternative proteins, food waste, healthier food, and delivery robots. Notable investments include Beyond Meat, Remilk, Sufresca, Plantish, Tovala and Ripple. OurCrowd also established FreshStart, a FoodTech incubator focusing on pre-seed FoodTech investments, in partnership with Tnuva, Tempo and Finistere.
OC FoodTech will seek to invest in a wide range of cutting-edge technology companies seeking to tackle the challenge of feeding the world’s fast-growing population while decarbonizing the global economy. Companies will also address new trends in culinary preferences, as well as lifestyle pressures and sustainability demands among the rising cohort of Millennials and Generation Z.
