Butterfat Gelato

Butterfat Gelato, a pop-up born in Pittsburgh's Northside, embarked on a journey in 2020 that began with intimate neighborhood tasting parties, and led to sold-out online drops, creating a buzz around their unique and delectable gelato offerings. As their flavors gained popularity, Butterfat Gelato expanded to pint sales at a local brewery (Allegheny City Brewing), further establishing its loyal customer base. In 2023, Butterfat was a contestant in the Gelato Festival World Masters Competition in Los Angeles and walked away with the People's Choice Award for the most popular flavor. Butterfat Gelato is now excited to expand its offerings with upgrades to equipment for increased production and consistency as well as establishing a Northside scoop shop!

Butterfat Gelato has hosted more than 15 sold-out online drops with flavors such as White Chocolate Amarena Cherry, Brown Butter Sage, and Cadbury Egg Gelato as well as Spiced Pear Sorbetto, Roasted Strawberry Sparkling Rosė and even Aperol Spritz!, Butterfat won the 2023 People's Choice Flavor at the Gelato Festival World Masters Competition in Los Angeles for their Carrot Cake Gelato., The business has experienced substantial growth over the last three years, notwithstanding owner Lauren's commitment to her full-time role as a pharmacist and addressing the challenges following a stroke in 2022.
