Management Team / Advisory Board Bios

Founder’s Story:
Chef Jose (Cheo) Ortiz, his two sons (Gabriel and Moises), and his daughter-in-law Kimly are the core working group running the kitchen, back of house, and front of house. Gabriel quit his job as a park ranger for the East Bay Regional Park District to help build the family business. Kimly is a former preschool teacher, and Moises, 40, left a corporate position to help cook. Cheo started out as a cook at a Puerto Rican spot that used to occupy Two Star Market, and took over the kitchen when the proprietors moved on.
