Company Description

One of the finest relics from basketball GOAT turned professional baseball player, Michael Jordan. In 1994, following the tragic death of his father, Jordan announced his retirement from the NBA to pursue his childhood dream of a becoming a baseball player. This offering contains a1994 game used and signed bat by Jordan when he played for the Birmingham Barons of the Southern League AA, a farm team for the Chicago White Sox. From the personal collection of Chris Chelios, NHL Hall of Famer and former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman.

The bat comes from the personal collection of Hockey Fall of Fame defenseman Chris Chelios. Jordan and Chelios have been good friends since they met in the 1990’s when Chelios played for the Chicago Black Hawks and Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls.
The bat is inscribed “To Jake and Dean Best Wishes” by Michael Jordan. The signature was authenticated by JSA.
Manufactured by Wilson circa 1994, the bat measures 35.0 inches and weighs 32.9 ounces. The bat is made from Ash with Black finishes. Model number WC209.
In October 1993, Jordan announced his retirement from basketball after grieving the death of his father James, who was murdered that July. In “The Last Dance”, Jordan recalls one of the last things his father had told him was to follow his childhood dream of becoming a baseball player.
Jordan played 127 regular-season games for the Birmingham Barons, the White Sox’s Double-A affiliate, in 1994. “It’s like we were in a circus the whole summer,” Barons shortstop Glenn DiSarcina. “It was craziness on a daily basis.”
